IF ONLY YOU LOVE …

The sky of rainy season
holds no clouds;
The soil of my body
grows no grass.
The petals of lips
embrace no smile.
The shells of the
distant blue ocean
nurture no dream.
The tide of time
don’t make and break life.

In this desolate river bank
of your body
there is no breeze.
Why must there be clouds in rainy season?

Till date,
your flood water
has not crossed the confines
of the farming fields
of my body
to wipe off the heat
and scorching light
of the sun.

If clouds and rain visit
the sky this rainy season;
if fertility returns again
to the body of the earth;
if the harvest of smile
ripens again
in the fields of humanity;
if again there is pleasure in
pain, loss, and destruction;
if humans breathe again
in this age old creation;
if only you love…
if only you love …
